Nature is wonderful - it's calming and inspirational. We used to go for a walk every single day in a lockdown - it was the best experience of the day. It really helped as we live in flat without any outdoor space. Somehow we all got calmer and ready for the next task - homework, work meeting or getting dinner ready.
We are very fortunate that we live close to three parks and a common. Nature is beautiful and we would be looking at trees and playing little game - what does this tree remind you of? What does it look like? What do you think?
It was really fun game - at the end we started to take pictures of trees and looking at them home.
Then we created series of drawings inspired by a certain tree. We had lots of fun coming up with ideas and colours!! It's such a fun, simple activity and it doesn't cost a penny! I had some photos on my phone already and we did this activity when my son Jack (9) had to self isolate. He really enjoyed being creative and I was happy to get him involved and take him away from screens.
Jack decided to call this tree Mr Woodman.
This tree looked like many things - from the front it looked like a bottom or breasts and from the side it looked like a face - me and Jack decided to call him The Rocker :-)
My daughter Anna (5) loves this tree :-) it looks like a baby elephant.
What about this tree? He is definitely screaming but what? Did she score a goal? I think Mrs Scream did! :-)
Next time when you go for a walk with your children, have a look around and if you see interesting tree, take a photo of it - you can use it later when your child is sick or has to self isolate. You can then study the photo more, be creative and use your imagination. What does this tree look like? What does it remind you of? ( watch short video on the left)
Happy walking and happy drawing! Hope you will have as much fun as we did! :-)
Have a lovely day! Lots of love Magda xxx
